Di – Ruby a couch potato… lol she must be getting old… It’s freezing here… in the teens tonight!
LOL I think too cold for snow, we’ve not had any snow yet here!
Been in the 60s just a few days back!Mary – You had snow yet?

Hello Everyone!!
and …

-
Di
Cold here, with snow showers expected later. Yep, winter is here!
Hope you’re having a great birthday, Jo! Where did you go?
Selinda, Ruby is a blessing, no doubt. She can be a pain sometimes, but most of the time, she’s a really good girl. Also entertaining. It’s so funny watching her play with her treats. She has a whole routine. She shortens it sometimes, but you should see the whole performance. She’ll toss it, roll on it, yip at it and generally has a great time till she finally gets down to eating it. Heh!
She’s very vocal, too. She just gave me her potty whine just a while ago. LOL!
If she’s on the couch with Steve in the morning, and I come out, she starts a little whine, which means she wants scratched.
Lately, she’s become a couch potato, sleeping on the couch most of the evening. She only gets up when Steve gets home from work.
I’ll bet your furbaby is fun to have around.
Janet, sorry your flight wasn’t pleasant, but you’re home now and can get back to your routine.
I agree about the free ads. Then maybe you’ll get real people running for election, instead of these phony balonies that are only interested in getting elected so they can make money off all kinds of things, including insider trading. Not fair.Waving hi to everyone else!
Oh, new Hawaii Five-0 tonight. Bookin’!

Selinda: I agree, the money spent on getting elected is obscene. Just think what could be done with that money instead of spending it on TV ads and rushing around the country smiling, shaking hands, pandering and making promises impossible to keep.
My solution would be to require the radio and TV to turn over a massive number of hours to politicians for free and require the politicians to actually discuss real topics with each other using facts instead of rhetoric. The air waves belong to the public not to the stations, so they can just serve the public for a change instead of their bottom line and give time to intelligent public debate.
Politicians would not be allowed any other air time, just the free time. That would cut the cost of campaigning by about 75%.
After that I would wave my magic political wand and prevent groups of any kind from contributing any money in any form to any part of the political process. Corporations, companies, unions, think-tanks, pressure groups, coalitions, PACs are not people and should not be allowed to give money to politicians. Only individual citizens would be allowed to send money to politicians.
I think a very good argument can be made that when organized groups of any kind whether they are unions or corporations get involved in politics in the name of free speech and can spend millions to control elections and drown out any opinions but theirs you are essentially denying the individual citizen their right to be heard.

Home, finally. I am here to tell you that flying the “friendly skies” is not as much fun as one might think. When you see those happy people deplaning on to bucolic, landscaped vacation spots, looking fresh, rested and fashionably dressed in pressed and unspotted clothing waving happily to waiting friends ….don’t believe a single word of it. The truth is a flying stock car full of grubby, grumpy adults and whiny kids herded like cows through a rickety tunnel into a crowded stock yard and into another tunnel onto another flying stock car. It ain’t like the ads ………. believe me.
Good to be home. However, we are in the market for a new mail box. Someone filled with jolly holiday spirit mistook our mail box for the road and ran over it. We found it lying on it’s side, mouth open, looking very sad with it’s post broken off at the stump and obviously DOA.

HAPPY NEW YEAR’S, Everyone!
Finally 2012 is here. Now if we can just get the POTUS election over with without all the ‘negativity’, lies, lies, and more lies ~ on BOTH SIDES over with, too! What a waste of MONEY and time just to elect folks to ‘represent’ us but who do NOT actually represent us at all! Our Founding Fathers must be ‘rolling in their graves’!
I was very sick over Christmas and thus did not fix our Christmas Dinner until this past Thursday. So we still have left-over turkey. I will use the rest of the 5 lb. turkey breast to make a turkey casserole tomorrow for supper. Works for me.
Gwen, so nice to see a post from you. Please know that my prayers are still with you, your DH and your whole family.
Di, hasn’t little Ruby been such a nice blessing for you and your DH? She came into you lives as just the right time!
Mary, I loved your ‘Count Down Clock’ gif! Very interesting.
Janet, hope you are finally home from your long trip. Traveling is so very tiring, I think.
Happy EARLY Birthday, Jo! Hope tomorrow will be a good day for you!

Hello everyone! Not quite midnight here… But wanted to stop in to say Happy New Year to you all!
It’s been a very busy week here… One of our daughters has been here helping me much of the week, but she went back home to Nashville last night so she could spend New Years with her hubby and 2 sons! She will be back in a couple of days. -
Di
Well, I think I’ll close out now and maybe see yas tomorrow night. Maybe!
Sweet dreams everyone! Bookin’!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
At midnight, I went outside. Could see fireworks all over the place, and lots of gunfire. Much more than usual. Some people were shooting shotguns, and boy, was that loud!!!!!
We watched an NCIS marathon, and now Steve’s asleep back in the bedroom with Ruby.
I’m doing the flannel sheets, and darn it, the fitted sheet stained my new dryer! So I figure the other sheets will, too. Makes me mad because I’ve washed them several times and they’re still “bleeding”.
Next time, I’m gonna look for all white sheets!Jo, I’m so glad you had a nice Christmas. Sounds like a lot of fun. Glad you had chocolate. We all need that in our diet. I think it’s mandatory for women! LOL!
I’m sure you’ll find someplace to eat out tomorrow.
Mary, we’re going out to eat tomorrow for pork and sauerkraut.
Tonight, we had turkey, stuffing (Dad’s recipe), mashed potatoes, gravy and brussel sprouts. Was really good, and we had leftovers. Will be making turkey noodle soup on Monday.
Yeah, I’ll bet the kids keep you hopping. Good you’re getting a break soon. Heh!
Janet, so sorry your flight was canceled. That’s a bummer. Have a safe trip home tomorrow.
Hi Sweetness! Same to you!

Hi all!!
Mary: Yes we took for Cedar Falls around 10 a.m. and got back home before 5pm..had a good time shopping at KMart and Goodwill..found some John Deere tractor lights at Goodwill and got a pair of pants at Kmart for $2.39 must be best kept secret there as was advertised 9.98 so maybe early markdown for new year??Ate at pizza ranch and is it big and down from there is GoodWill place . the goodwill place didnt mark down their christmas stuff so it was not taken by the peeps coming in from pza ranch place but was happy with lights for either neighbor or cousin’s boy Riley…
We ate around 12:30 ..good meal and regular size chicken pieces unlike Bonanza of wings and drumsticks from wings…cheapskates!! and didnt haveto pay extra for drink..was included.
Think I am going to go to Grundy to eat since I forgot to get pork chops out so would be thawed out naturally instead of using water to soak them in..only face down in 1 inch cold water if do it that way…So we will see how it goes tomorrow..Will make applesalad on 2nd and have pork chops then for dinner!! Where there’s a will there is a way…
Gwen: thinking of you and hubby
Rita: thx for nice kitty card and Di also!!! Hope this coming year is a good one for us all!!!!! -

Our flight out was canceled so we stayed an extra day in Oregon. We are supposed to fly out tomorrow at 6AM. The connections are horrible. Oregon to Salt Lake City to Atlanta to Maine, then drive the rest of the way home. Looks like a very long day coming up.
New Year’s resolution. Every time an airline ad that says “Fly the Happy Skies with US” point middle finger toward airplane in the sky.

Hi Everyone! Thought I would stop in and wish everyone a wonderful New Year, just in case I don’t get a chance to get back in for a few days.
DI….LOL…..I had a few days to rest up from the Christmas activities, but now I am just super busy watching Grandkids. With them still being out of school, and their parents having to work, I have my hands full. By the time the day is over, I am too pooped to do much besides fall into bed. That’s ok though, they all go back on Tuesday. That’s a good idea about going out to eat on New Years Eve. That is what hubby and I are going to do also, but will probably go in the early evening to avoid the crowds. I do not like being anywhere on the roads, even in town after dark, when it is a party night. After that I am sure we will just come home and will probably be asleep long before midnight. LOL!
JO….I hope you and your cousins are going early also. I hope you have a wonderful time and a great visit. I would imagine that every restaurant will be open for business. That is a big money making day for them.
JANET….Hope you and hubby made it home ok without to much hassle. Do you guys do anything special for New Years Eve? I have never been to Oregon, but have always wanted to see it. I know there is some stunningly beautiful places there. Got any pictures of the area you where at? Would love to see some.
Well….it is almost 11:00 pm here, and I am exhausted, so I will say goodnight. Be careful, be safe, and I hope everyone’s New Year is better than the last.~~~~

Hello everyone! Looks like most are still recuperating from the holiday rush. I’m vegging out this week. Just doing laundry.
We got some snow today, enough to coat the grassy areas. Rain coming in for tomorrow. I feel like a yo-yo with this weather!
Janet, have a safe trip home. See ya when ya get back!
Talked to Dad the other day. For New Year’s Day, instead of making pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and dumplings, Mom and Dad are going to go to a restaurant for their holiday meal. So we’ll be going there, too.
Anyone have plans for New Year’s Eve? We will be staying home. We’ll be having turkey, mashed potatoes and maybe stuffing. I have the turkey breast in the fridge to thaw.
Well, that’s all for now. Have a good evening! Bookin’!

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We were over at Mom’s and Dad’s house. Had lasagna around 1:30, then stuck around to talk. Later, we were surprised when my brother, Steve, my sister-in-law, Kathy, and my niece, Stephanie, stopped in! Was soooooo good to see them!
They had gift baskets for Steve and I, and Mom and Dad. I spent time talking to Steph. She told me she went to Field of Screams, a haunted attraction they have every October. She loves places like that. Maybe she should try Jason’s Woods next year! LOL!We left there around 7:00. Ruby was really glad to see us! Kept kissing my hand. Yep, she missed us.
Yesterday, we went out to eat with Steve’s brother and sister-in-law. Was nice catching up with them. We’ll go out again when it gets warmer! Heh!
Today, it was cold and rainy. A little foggy, too. I spent half of the day catching up with my sleep. I was so tired over the weekend. So now, I feel better.
Mary, I didn’t get all of my baking done. Had to stop because I was getting really stressed. Doing better now.
Not a whole lot on TV tonight, so I’m doing laundry. Lots to do!
Anyway, have a great evening! Bookin’!

Hi, I’m a regular on the Q&A board. You’ve probably noticed that the banner ads at the top of the page are gone. Sweetness was using that as a small source of money to offset the cost of maintaining these boards.
Now that Google has cut off that option, she needs another way of financing this site. If you enjoy chatting here and would like these boards to continue, consider making a small donation to help with the cost. $10/month would go a long way to keep the site going. There’s a “donation” link on the homepage that goes through Paypal.

OK the rush and excitement of Christmas is over and the annual stress generated row with the husb is done with so we can now settle down and just enjoy being with the kids and grand kids. We went skating on a remote pond way off on BLM land. Lovely place, you could see the snow capped Cascades from the middle of the pond. Oregon is really a beautiful state. If you ever have a choice of vacations between Maine and Oregon. Pick Oregon.

Hi Everyone! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
I finally got some time to post in. This last week has been a little on the crazy side. We had our celebration on Christmas Eve, and we all had a wonderful time. Plenty of food, and tons of laughter and love. The kids had a blast, and enjoyed all their gifts. I hope you all had a wonderful day as well.
JANET….what a wonderful wish for everyone. When all is said and done, that really is what is most important at the end of the day. I hope you are having a great time with your family.
RITA….Thank you for my name tag. That was very thoughtful of you.
JO….So good to see you posting in again. I was worried that you got lost. Sorry to hear that your old computer finally went out, but how nice that you got a new one. It also sounds as if you are getting quite a bit accomplished, even on the days with no help. Hang in there. Someday it will be all done, and you will finally have some time for you. What did you end up doing for Christmas?
GWEN….Nice to see you posting in also. Things do have a tendency to get so hectic around the holidays eh? We have not gotten any snow yet. Not one single flake. Looks as if we are just going to have a warm winter here. This is the first year I can ever remember that we have had no snowfall before Christmas. I have been stepping up my campaign to move farther north, but it is still falling on deaf ears. LOL!
SELINDA….I hope you had a peaceful and calm day also. Wouldn’t that be something if Missouri didn’t get any snow at all this year? it would not surprise me though. Stranger things have been known to happen.
DI….you certainly have been doing a lot of baking, and I hope you had time to get it all done. I hope you had fun today.
Time for me to go put my feet up, have a slice of the Blackberry pie my oldest son made for me, and finally relax. Have a safe and happy night. ~~~~~~~

Off to watch the grand kids unwrap presents and share Christmas breakfast.
A sincere wish that this holiday season brings peace to the world, the safety of a home and the warmth of family and friends to all of us living on on this little world. Love to all Janet

Hi Everyone, I’mmmmmmm back!!!!
The monitor went out and I couldnt tell if it was idiot box or picture tube one sooooo Wally World had one on sale and everything came with it…Then wait was on for the IT guy to come and hook things up and download outlook express and picts etc on the computer…And learning to type on flat face keys is something else!! Took friend’s kitten to vet to get fixed so no more kittens run around and go get her kitten next day…Both days were early ones for me, Miss 9 a.m. getting up …got up at 7 and had to have cat-kitten over to Hudson by 8:30 a.m. and when called Wally World they would only hold computer for 12 hrs so after leaving kitten at vet we went to Wally World and got computer and some goodies for Christmas Eve and are in freezer…Peg also got stuff for Christmas…Well cousin Julie got in act of helping me,,,she put quite bit of furniture back in places and I haveto sort things out for Good Will now and after Christmas we might make run over there…Jim has not been here to do blinds or the cabinet in laundry room and still dont know abt the eraseing of the lines on the wall….he is going to be soooo mad but need cabinet down where I can reach it and not kill arms!!! And it looks better than having 3 cedar chests lined up by the sofas ..now have one over by laundry wall on living room side and another one in front of one of sofas and gonna use as coffee table since looks rustic enuff to do it and the others look like cedar chests(old looking)… Have to get used to the flat keys on computer and it is sooooooo quiet that you dont know if it is running or not…the idiot box is abt 14-15 inches long and 4 inches across…compared to the other one ..it is not heavy at all and a huge(21.5 flat screen monitor–diagonally that is..)!!! Is hard to get used to that but so nice to see all the pictures you have put on here!! BTW : gGOOD PICTURES !!!!! Way to go…Got every one of the kitty pictures saved!!! the2 stray cats are getting very good at coming every nite and putting paws on door and looking in thru window to see if I am coming to feed them when I open the kitchen door to go out in porch to feed them and tonite Mooch(maine coon walked around in porch quickly but Whitey kitty is wild but loves me talking to her and will rub her whiskers on the steps instead of eating and when I go away she gets down to business of eating and Mooch only stays a little bit and then leaves her the rest of what he dont eat…Mooch will let me rub his head and sides under the ears but dont put both hands along neck as he gets very nervous then…just wonder how many peeps have tried to “catch him” that way? very big boned cat but must have been a housecat at one time …not shy when hegets to know you..When it got way down to almost zero he looked in at porch and back at me as if to say”Can I come in here to sleep tonite?” but I know he would mark the porch up so he went back out when I called him…so afraid I would give Whitey some more food and he wouldnt get any….lol…I abt went nuts when computer went down ….did some reading, wrapping up things for christmas, doing christmas plates, nothing special on them- some bought cookies and candies and that is it…Told friend in Vinton I was hungry for fudge and she was hungry for divinity…maybe cousins will make it for Christmas get-together…Souinds like someone needs 6 cats to catch the mice up there in Maine..!! I am happy we are going to havea Brown Christmas here unless tje weathermen are fibbing!!!!Seems like we havent had one of those since in 70′s and pipes froze in ground when the real cold came of below zero!!! When i get the hang of flat typing I will be flying along real good, and not have to go back all the time typing this!! Nice to see everyone ‘s post!!! All for now..

Good Evening Everyone. I hope you all had a good day. Did any of you dare to venture out on “Super Saturday”? That is just about all they have talked about on the news the last few days. Turns out that the Black Friday sales weren’t as good as they thought they were once the 17 billion dollars in electronics were returned. I did not venture out at all. My Christmas shopping was done long ago, and I refuse to spend any more money they what I had originally planned on anyway. I was just curious to know if anyone braved the crowds.
GWEN…Good to see you. Glad you like the decorations, and that we could make you smile.
JANET….Sorry you got a mouse problem. Getting a cat or two would be the easy way to get rid of them, but if you don’t want to do that, I am sure they sell something that you spread around the perimeter of the cabin that would keep them away. I hope you visit to Oregon is a pleasant one. Including your flight out there and back.
DI…..How is that cookie baking coming along? Sometimes I wish I had more interest in baking, but most times I don’t. I think because I have never really had much of a sweet tooth. All my growing up years, my Dad was a diabetic, so we rarely had sweets in the house, and never got accustomed to it. To this day, when I have a sweet attack, one cookie takes care of it, or about 4 or 5 peanut M and M’s will do. All my weight gain has come from all the cooking that I enjoy doing. LOL! Your Mom and dad’s idea of the snacky things for Christmas is a good idea. There is no way I could get away with that here though. LOL! We do do that for New Years Eve.
SELINDA…The time going by so fast has been really noticeable this year to me also. Even Hubby made a comment the other day, and he has never commented about that before. Maybe because we were all so busy having fun? LOL! I wonder if the speed that time seems to go by, either fast or slow, has anything to do with the weather patterns. Hmmmm, might have to see if I can find any info about that later. It will give me something to do the next time I have trouble sleeping.
RITA…..Glad you are all ready. I am so lucky that my DD loves to wrap presents. She comes over every year to do it, and she finished up last week. I don’t mind having to shop for things, even when it means dealing with the crowds, but I do not enjoy wrapping them. I do not have any patience for it, and if I do happen to wrap anything, someone always says “Mom wrapped that one” LOLOL! Are you still enjoying fairly nice weather there? We are having very mild temps here so far, and I don’t mind telling you that I feel severely cheated. LOL!
JO…waving at you~~~~~~
Time for me to go put my feet up and watch the nightly news. Have a great day tomorrow, and stay safe.

You all have done such a wonderful job here decorating!Mary – I used to do Christmas notes or letters to update my far away family or friends many years before keeping up with them via email more often then once a year… also now i have them on facebook and that keeps them even closer. I barely even do any Christmas Cards by snail mail anymore!
Rita – I’m kinda like you I don’t talk politics. I don’t trust any politicians!
Janet – LOL the full mouse traps, appears you need a cat or two and maybe even a dozen!!
Sorry to hear Jo’s puter is giving issues.
I need to run now…
As you all know, I won’t do any updating here…
Waves to the rest of yous~~~ -

Went up to the cabin this afternoon to make sure everything was OK before we took off for Oregon and the other set of kids and grand kids. I found all five mouse traps full. Sigh. I feel bad catching the little mousies. They are so cute, tan on top and little white bellies, but they pee on things you don’t want peed on and stink up a place, and they make nests and have big families that pee on more stuff and so on until you just can’t live with the little buggers. They are field mice. They should stay in the field.

Rita, I love that picture of all the trees lighted up and looking like an aisle of light. Beautiful

Good Morning Everyone. Sorry I have been tardy, but this has been a really crazy week, and it doesn’t include anything pertaining to Christmas. LOL!
JANET….I have never written Christmas letters to anyone, but all my Dads side of the family lived in another state, so they would all include an update letter with the card they sent every year. I enjoyed the updates on everyone, since we didn’t get a chance to visit very often. Eventually they stopped though. Like you said, once the kids have all grown and moved on with their own lives, I guess they really didn’t have much to say anymore. Sorry you didn’t get any snow either. All this warm weather for winter really sucks. LOL!
Got an email from Jo the other day. It seems that her computer fizzled out. She now has a new one, but is having to learn it. She will be in as soon as she can.
I hate to cut this short, but I have another busy day ahead of me, and hubby is urging me to hurry up. Waving at everyone~~~~~~~~~ Have a great day and stay warm.

Rita, no snow. In fact it has rained all day today and the little skim of snow we had is gone. The ski resorts are tearing out their hair because of the warm weather. They aren’t getting any natural snow and it’s too warm to make artificial snow. Even “The County” (that’s what our northernmost county is called)doesn’t have snow and they are usually up to the derriere of a tall Indian in snow by now. Looking bad for the tourist industry so far.

Selinda, when i give IT out it will be in the most polite language you can imagine. One doesn’t have to have a potty mouth to point out the error in their ways. LOL

Oh what neat pictures. Thanks so much to everybody that spends the time to search them out. They really are so pretty.

Hello Everyone!….
Can you all believe how close it is until Christmas?…Wow time is just flying by!..
Selinda, yes you saw me on the quick topic soapbox under another id, i am not really very good at talking politics this way and i will not get into name calling, i know they can be rough i have read the dnf board for years…i know some of them when they can not seem to make a point have to resort to name calling which i find so childish…It seems to me if you want someone to understand ones point or try to make them see ones side that name calling is not going to get them to take one very seriously…
Di, you better get crackin, this holiday is sneekin up fast gf!…It won’t be long now we will all be talking about taking down and putting up all our junk!…lolol..
Mary, whats you up to gal?…I have all my pkgs wrapped now, i have couple more things to pick up then i am done, done…this is not a usual christmas as all of us really are not in the mood, but thats ok we have no little ones around so it makes it easy just to kinda look the other way this year…now mind you we have got gifts but it was sure hard to get into it this year for all of us..
Janet, you have snow?..We are getting rain its been a warmer Dec here than normal, but we are turning cold later today…they just said on the radio to get our winter coats back out..
waving at the rest of you i need to get my day going here, i was just relaxing a little today and not rushing around doing things, but now i must get things moving along here you all have a great day and i will catch you all later…scootin…

Selinda
(((Janet))), I can also give ‘IT’ out ‘if’ I let myself do so ~ but I just do not see any reason to be so ‘crass and mean and ugly’ as that helps no one, nor does it change anyone’s political positioning/reasoning. I still say, those folks need to ‘grow up’ and ‘watch their mouths (via their posts)’ as they impress no one and just show how untolerant and closed-minded they really are.
-
Sally Jones
Selinda: some day I will lose my temper and then it will be Katie Bar the Door. I can give it out just as well as they can. LOL
-
Selinda
Oops! They were chatting in SOAPBOX II on the QUICKTOPIC site and not here on this site. Sorry about that.
-
Selinda
Hello!
Di, would you believe it but I ‘forgot’ that NCIS was on last night until it was 1/2 over! Can’t believe that I did that, as I always enjoy watching NCIS.
Rita, was that you I saw posting over in SOAPBOX II (on the ultimatechat site) with another user ID? I read it but do not post over there? Far too many mean-spirited and name-calling folks over there for me. So many of those folks ~ all from eBay’s DNF chat board ~ just can’t seem to be civil to/with each other. They need to ‘grow up’!
Janet, I know you do post over there but you are very reasonable and considerate and do not engage in all the bad language and name-calling.
Very dreary day with rain forcasted at 100%. We have gotten a few ‘drops’ but really do need lots more as things are so dry. Thus far the temperatures for this week are forcasted to be in the 50′s so that means that we will have NO SNOW! And that is just fine with me!
Love seeing all the Christmas gifs, ladies. Keep up the good work!

Hello everyone! Merry Christmas! Sunny and cold here, but not too bad. Had Ruby out for a while this afternoon, and we sat out for a bit. She’s sleeping by the sliding glass doors now, but the sun went down, so she’ll probably get up soon and want up on the couch to sleep until Steve gets home.
As soon as I’m done online, I will be baking cookies.
I’m behind, but will make up for it this week. Lots to do!!!!Selinda, last year for Thanksgiving, Mom and Dad went elsewhere for dinner, so Steve and I made our own dinner. We made Dad’s stuffing, along with a turkey breast, brussels sprouts and gravy. It went well.
Mary, soooooo sorry you didn’t get your snow. I’ll keep wishing!
No snow here yet. I’m hoping we don’t get much this year.
We’re going to Mom’s and Dad’s house for Christmas. They’re not having a big meal, because relatives will be dropping in all day.
They’ll probably have cold cuts for sandwiches and munchies to go along with it.
Steve and I did one batch of cookies on Saturday. Hard sugar cookies with colored sugar sprinkles. Tonight, I’m doing soft sugar cookies.Gwen, I’ve never tried doing cut out cookies. Bet they’re great!
Hope all is going well with you!Rita, I’ve only gotten one batch of cookies done, so I’ve gotta get crackin’. I want to get the soft sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies done this week.

Yum on the chicken and noodles casserole you had the other day.
Tonight, I’m having leftover roast beef and potatoes with broccoli.Oggilby, your house sounds so festive. Love it! Have fun on your trip!
Janet, that was hilarious, how your granddaughter bakes. Steve makes messes like that when he cooks or bakes, too. LOL!
I have to send out a few letters with cards. My pen pals like to do that. Saves on stamps. Heh!Well, those cookies aren’t gonna bake themselves, so I’m going to drop off some pics and skedaddle.
NCIS and NCIS: LA tonight. The Christmas episodes.

We have a skim of snow here and it’s just plain old cold.

Was listening to the Prairie Home Companion yesterday as I was weaving. They took a poll of how many liked Christmas letters in their cards and how many didn’t . The didn’ts won. Now I like Christmas letters. I really do. I’m such a poor correspondent that Christmas letters may be the only thing I send out to some friends and relatives. And my friends and relatives are equally poor at communication. So the only time we interact is Christmas.
However, I hate writing Christmas letters. When life is relatively unexciting, I mean who’s really interested in cataract surgery, it’s hard to write something interesting. Survived another year just isn’t really news. It was different when we were having babies, moving around, taking new jobs, dealing with kids and their dramas, traumas and broken bones, watching them graduate, marry etc.
Don’t get me wrong dull is just right. I’m too old for exciting but let’s face it ‘dull’ doesn’t cut the mustard when sitting down to write a Christmas letter.
Sigh

Good Afternoon Everyone. Busy day here so far. The grands are here for the weekend.
JANET….LOL@ the baking description. I can almost see the clouds of flour dust now. I have a feeling that is how Martha Stewart started out also.
GWEN…even though things are not good right now, it is still good to see you post in. You are in my thoughts.
RITA….Still no snow here. I am hoping we have some for Christmas day, but it is not looking to promising. How are things by you?
DI…..You get any snow yet? What are you and Steve doing for Christmas? Hope the cookie baking is going well.
SELINDA….Purple is one of my favorite colors also. I also really like red. But not together. LOL!
Going to wave at everyone else.~~~~ I have to get ready to go to the oldest GD’s birthday party. She is now 11, but thinks she is 31. LOL! Have a great day and stay warm.

But Grandma doesn’t have to live with the pie maker. Grandma gets to fly back home to her own kitchen and leave the pie maker’s mother to deal with the next mess. LOL
She actually makes a pretty mean apple pie.
-
Sally Jones
On cleaning up messes after kids cook: The 15 year old grand daughter likes to make apple pie. This requires the use of 98.6% of all kitchen utensils and 99.7% of all the counter space. It involves 87.9% of the counter space to be covered in flour mixed with water and sugar; a mixture often call ed paste. It requires that the sink be 79.9% clogged up with apple peelings and cores and the floor to be 69.7% covered with sugar. It also involves spilled cinnamon and nutmeg on 56.8% of the counter and smoke in 100% of the house from burned apple juice and sugar covering 62% of the bottom of the oven.
Grandma cleans up 100% of this activity.

Good Afternoon!
Rita, such cute little ‘mousie’ gifs and ‘gingerbread people’! Love all of them.
Ready for Christmas? Not much to get ready around here ~ just my DH and myself. We never put up a tree (always had cats), don’t have any tree decorations or any Christmas decorations for that matter. My DH and I don’t exchange gifts. We have no family to really speak of. We both have nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews that we never see as they do not live close and some we have never met.
I have already bought a small turkey breast and all the other usual Christmas dinner things and will make them for our Christmas dinner. I am looking forward to having some turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and LOTS OF GRAVY!!!
And then having some left-overs for another meal and for some turkey sandwiches! Our weather here in SWMO has been more wintery with much colder temperatures. The lows have been in the teens. Much too cold for me!
Gwen, just in case you have a minute to check in here, I am praying for you and your DH and your family. I think of you often.
Mary, I like your Santa dressed in ‘purple’ ~ which is my favorite color.
Hope everyone is having a peaceful day.

Good Morning Everyone. Well…..the snowfall we were supposed to get the other day turned out to be a BUST! I don’t know why I even listen to them and get my hopes up. LOL! Now the story is that we will get some tomorrow. We’ll see. It sure is cold enough though. Been getting down into the 20′s at night.
Not a whole lot that is new with me. Just the usual, boring everyday things. I decided that I needed to take a break from things, so I have gone into “hermit” mode this week. LOL! Just wanted to stop in and say hey to everyone.
I hope everyone is well. Waves to everyone~~~~~. I will post up some pics later this evening. Bye for now.

Hello All! Look at all the cute mousies on the board! Thanks Rita! Love them!
Rainy and cold today, and TWC says we could see 1-3 inches of snow later. Still raining here at the moment. Then cold tomorrow, upper 30′s, mid thirties Friday, but going to be sunny for quite a while, which will be nice.Rita, what did you make for dinner? I’m just having ravioli tonight. I don’t feel like fussing.
Think I’ll bake some cookies after I get off the computer. Sugar cookies. I’m baking right through the weekend, and continuing off and on until the 22nd. Oh boy!
Waving hi to Mary, Gwen, Selinda, Oggilby and Jo. Hope you’re having a good day!
Gonna book it for now, but might check in later, after Criminal Minds. Have a good evening! BYE!
